Concerns are growing around Matt LeBlanc’s well-being a year after his friend and former Friends co-star, Matthew Perry, passed away.
Sources report that LeBlanc, 57, has become increasingly reclusive, prompting friends like Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox to check in regularly.
According to an insider from Radar Online: “he’s such a recluse these days” that loved ones rarely hear from.
Aniston, in particular, has been a steady presence, visiting him frequently and even staying overnight to keep him company. She reportedly spends time cooking, watching movies, and sharing quiet conversations with him.
LeBlanc, who hasn’t taken on any projects since the 2021 Friends reunion, shared a deep bond with Perry. Following Perry’s passing, LeBlanc was the first among the cast to pay tribute, sharing an emotional Instagram post where he reflected on their friendship: “It was an honor to share the stage with you and to call you my friend.”
He added: “Spread your wings and fly, brother. You’re finally free.” His touching message only emphasized the loss he felt, having lived near Perry at the time of his death and sharing close ties beyond their roles as Joey and Chandler on Friends.
Though worth an estimated $85 million, LeBlanc’s decision to step away from the spotlight seems to have added to concerns for his emotional health, especially given his introverted nature.
In past interviews, he contrasted himself with Joey, saying: “People will always ask if I’m all right because I’m much more low-key and reserved than my character in Friends. They think that I’m depressed or sad… but that’s just not who I am,” according to MSN. However, some worry that without any active projects, grief and isolation may be taking a toll on him.
Perry’s death in October last year at the age of 54 was ruled as resulting from “acute effects of ketamine.” Following the tragedy, five people were arrested, including Perry’s live-in assistant, on charges related to his overdose.
Aniston and Cox continue to support LeBlanc through the grieving process, ensuring that he has a support system even as he navigates life outside of the public eye.
Fans and friends alike hope that LeBlanc will find peace and strength with the help of those around him, though his decision to stay away from work may mean a longer journey to healing.
The emotional weight of losing his friend and former co-star runs deep, leaving those close to him concerned but hopeful that time and support will bring him peace.
